Loquat used to be considered as the best wood for bokken as it offers hardness without being brittle. Unlike most of the "hard wood" it retains flexibility even after it is dried and stabilized. Many samurai considered loquat bokken as a reliable weapon rather than training equippment or substitute for actual sword.Our loquat bokken is hand made, with meticulous attention to detail, by the nationaly certified craftman Mr. Aramaki. Checroned spine and rounded butt resembling shinken. hand rubbed oil finish for beautiful grain.
